Department of Computer Science

The Department of Computer Science was established in 2001. The Department is equipped with the state of the art facilities. The department has seven computer labs consisting of Good configured Systems which are connected through Local Area Network (LAN). The computer systems are installed with the required software and peripherals keeping the needs of the students in mind. The labs provide unlimited access to the internet broadband connectivity. All labs are supported by UPS and Generators.

Facilities at NIET
A full fledged computer laboratory with 60 high compatible systems is recently established for E-CAD and DSP. This facilitates the students to acquire thorough knowledge of the different software. In addition to this, the following well developed laboratories are available with the department

3) Full time network administrator. The above facilities are also being extended to the other branches of Engineering.
4) The Computer center has been certified by JNTU to conduct online examination with 60 students at a time and is equipped with IBM Xeon Server 3.06 GHz. as per JNTU specification.
5) There are 300 Computers in the Computer Center to enable students to access the computers individually meeting the norms specified by AICTE.

Department of Computer Science Engineering (CSE)
We have well-qualified human resources who can provide a direction and orientation to the students in their learning process with a blend of theory and practical sessions. Here we provide a list of our faculty department wise.
Mohammed S. Qaseem, an adept, proficient and competent personality with a veteran experience of sixteen years, heads the Department of CSE and IT. He has been teaching at postgraduate and undergraduate level for ten years. In addition, he has also worked as a Project Leader in Al Madina Development Company, Muscat, Sultanate of Oman for five years.

He holds his degree from Marathwada University, Aurangabad and postgraduate degree from Allahabad Agriculture Institute - Deemed University. Mr. Qaseem is presently pursuing his Ph.D. from Acharya Nagarjuna University on the topic Text Mining Issues in Data Mining.

An amalgamation of both teaching and industrial experience, he is indeed a rich resource person for the institution in guiding the students and grooming them according to the specifications of the industry.

Department of Electronics and Communication


The Department of Electronics and Communications was established in 2001. The Department is equipped with the state of the art facilities. The department has Four electronic laboratories consisting of well equipped necessary kits and systems. The college has established all required Electronics & Communications labs with state-of-the-art Electronic Devices and high quality equipment and instruments. The maintenance and the upkeep of the labs have been assigned to trained technicians under the supervision of the faculty.

Dr. Shaik Abdul Muzeer is a sound academician and a conscientious gentleman. He has recently joined NIET family bringing with him his vast experience of 13 years of industry which includes Research and Development and 11 years of teaching. He has to his credit the designing of Low Cost ECG Machine and software for calculating EDD. His areas of interest are Biometric Applications and Signal Processing. He is presently conducting research study on Signal Processing. He has published several papers in national and international magazines and Journals

A diligent and experienced personality, Mr. D.V. Ravi Shankar, heads the Department of Mechanical Engineering. He completed his AMIE (Mechanical Engineering) from the Institute of Engineers in 1987 and M.Tech. from REC/NIT, Surthkal in 1994. His eighteen years of seasoned experience includes managerial, technical, administrative and academic jobs in various organizations. Moreover, he has presented 14 papers at national and four at international level and one in an international journal. He established a small-scale industry, Bharathi Glass Fibre Reinforce Polymers at Machilipatnam as an ancillary to Bharath Electronics Ltd. and had managed it for three years. He also erected and commissioned Acetylene Generating Plant for Roorkela Steel Plant, Orissa and also worked for Cheetha-Chetak Helicopter Radar Domes and V-SAT Antenna Reflectors for ECIL, Hyderabad. He was a founder member of ISTE Students and Staff Chapters at Vijay Rural Engineering College, Nizamabad.

 Department of Civil Engineering


The Civil Engineering course is one of the best sought after course in NIZAM. This is one department with good experienced faculty who encourages and create an atmosphere to learn at NIZAM. The Civil department was established in 2001 with well equipped laboratories.

Facilities at NIET

Surveying laboratory: Total Station, Theodolite, Leveling Instruments, Compass, Plane Table are the instruments used in the Survey laboratory.

Geo-Technical laboratory: In this lab Soil testing equipments are used like field compaction of Soil tests, Direct Shear test, Triaxial Shear test, Vane Sheer test, Unconfined Compression test in Soil testing Shear Strength of Soil is very important as the Soils fail in Shear.

Concrete and Highway Engineering laboratory: The Cement tests like Fineness test, Soundness test Initial and Final setting of Cement test, Consistency test of Cement are carried out in Concrete laboratory in highway laboratory Penetration test, Lossargles Abbration test, Ductility test, Deval Attrission test, Softening Point test are the usual test carried out in highway laboratory.

Environmental Engineering laboratory: Here tests on quality of water are performed according to the purpose of drinking.

Hydraulics Engineering laboratory: The actual discharge of water is calculated through Orifices, Notches, channels, Pipes and Conduits etc. in this laboratory.

Strength of Material Engineering Lab: In this laboratory, the strength of various materials like Wood, Brick, Concrete Block, Steel Rod and Plate are found by various experiments.

Geology Engineering laboratory: The identification of various Rocks and Minerals are carried out in this laboratory.
Department of Civil Engineering (CIVIL)

Mr. Md. Subhan, post graduate in Structural Engineering is a diligent and focused teacher. With two years of industrial experience and seventeen years of teaching experience to his credit, he heads the department. He was involved in prestigious projects like Sri Durga Estates Colony at Jeedimetla, where he planned, designed and executed the project. He was also involved in the guiding and designing of the P. V. Narasimha Rao Express Highway near Shamshabad Airport, Hyderabad. His modest demeanour and patience further makes him more accessible to the students.

Nizam Institute of Engineering and Technology Boys Hostel is located on a spread of 1.25 acres, very close to the college campus amidst natural setting with greenery and a beautiful mountainous view. The spacious hostel building has 20,000 sq. ft. constructed area for each of the three floors to accommodate 200 students.


* Transportation Facility:

Our students have the special privilege of enjoying college transport from every nook and corner of the twin cities.Eighteen buses ply on working days towards college from various points.

PROJECTS AND PLACEMENTS

The academic year 2007 - 2008 is one of the most promising years as far as the placement activity is concerned. It has been an eventful year in terms of training and placement. Students Of NIZAM attended various placement Missions and selected companies like Satyam, Zen Technologies and Infosys. The college is providing informational seminars which have been great motivating and attitude development sessions for the students.

The results have been great with good figures from the 2009 batch being selected into various organizations.

The students are provided training in Aptitude, Reasoning, English – Spoken and Written communication Skills by inviting expert trainers from professional training organizations. An internal training team for the JKC to ensure that regular training is in process in the campus.

NIZAM is associated with the NICCO venture and other consultancies which is to provide good placements, training sessions and organized a pre-recruitment workshop for students.

The college is in the process of creating long term associations with some of the major MNC’s for initiating on the campus training and is in process of creating facilities for the initiative. Faculty Development Activity is also a regular feature at the campus. Faculty from various departments have been trained by Organizations like IEG, Oracle, Globarena.Direct Placement in the Following Company..

Library

The library is fully equipped to cater requirements of 1700 students with total 28,500 books and by the end of the semester the figure will touch 30,000. We subscribe 100 National and International Journals and Magazines every year. Apart from the Central Library, departmental libraries are also maintained by the concerned Heads of the Departments. Each department has books for ready reference for the
faculty members. The library is being upgraded on the lines of accreditation and standard is being maintained accordingly.

  5. Michigan Ear Institute Medical Library. Find several articles about diagnosis and treatment of ear issues in this online library intended for both professionals and laypersons.
  6. South Carolina Department of Mental Health. Geared towards both the professional and clients and their families, this site offers a wealth of information from the diagnostic stage to treatment.
  7. Encyclopedia of Psychology. This site run by Jacksonville State University provides links to anything related to psychology. Read about organizations, learn about the major theories, or find out about a career in the field.
  8. Children's Hospital Boston Interactive Features. Click on these features to make neurons fire, see cell growth as you travel through cancer stages, create red blood cells, and more.
  9. Tufts Open Courseware. Tufts University medical school has put several medical courses online for anyone to access.
